A Mahoosive Night of Laughs: Comedy Cow Delivers Stand-Up Gold at The Venue MK
Review Comedy Cow - May 25

Anudder phenomoonal night of stand up and laughter from The Comedy Cow last night at The Venue MK.

Opening the evening and the main man MC was Jay Neale.Having seen Jay before, I knew I was going to enjoy his part in the night immensely. He’s sharp, super quick witted and delivers tight, punchy, and hilarious sets.

Performing to a ‘drug’ addled crowd, that of “HRT and Statins”, 🙃 Jay is the perfect MC. With accomplished audience engagement, he ridicules so politely and courteously you almost WANT to be in front row – Stu and the Swarfega – and he set the rules for hecklers from the get go so very gentlemanly, everyone behaved impeccably.

( including our beloved friend Kevin xx …  Had to include you Kevin, Comedy Cow Superfan !)

First act was Paddy Lennox.

Paddy Lennox is a “North of Ireland” stand-up comedian and actor who began his comedy career in 2001. Known for his engaging storytelling and observational humor, he has performed at top UK comedy venues like The Comedy Store and The Glee Club.

Paddy makes the mundane immensely mirthful, chat about weight loss, hair loss, the weather and even Zumba became beyond funny.

His political musings were jolly and spirited, his class stories, brilliant, we’ve all stopped aghast at a £4 doughnut and who knew DIPS could be so funny! Throw me some Baba ganoush Barbara! ps I love living in a w@**y town with a farmers market 🤣

The second act was the recent ‘Fresh Meat’ winner, Fred Barber

Fred is a stand-up comedian and comedy writer from West London, with a set full of quick-fire gags, observational humor delivered in a laid back, droll, surreal style.

He began performing in 2009 and has since appeared at major UK venues like The Comedy Store and the Green Man Festival. His explores themes such as dyspraxia, addiction, and social alienation, drawing from personal experiences to connect with audiences and he did that so wonderfully!

Chatting about park bench inscriptions, fitness and his ex partner had everyone laughing constantly. Deserved of his massive applause, we all loved the pigeon stories, not to mention rebranding condoms and umbrellas…. You’ll have to go see him for further details 😉

The headliner of the night was the inimitable Mr Troy Hawke.

Troy Hawke is a comedic character created and performed by British comedian Milo McCabe. Portrayed as a 1930s-style gentleman with impeccable manners and impossibly adept at Scrabble, Troy humorously navigates modern life with an old-fashioned perspective.

He can be found every on the internet with his “Greeter’s Guild” videos, where greets the general public and famous folk alike with elaborate compliments and observations.

With explosive energy, gyrations and growls, he was adored by the entire populace.

We got introduced to our first ‘Mervyn in the Wild’ and were delighted by his ‘words fascinating with your synapses’. Watching him bounce from one topic to another seamlessly is a comic rollercoaster of joy. From the screensaver mode at the bus stop, a brief Q&A, the obligatory infamous Jack Grealish story and the etymology of w@n**r to cory slang and SORRY Not in Service Apologies, Troy left nothing unsaid or bewildered at brilliantly.
