The programme commences with Divertimento in D major, K.136, a piece that exudes youthful energy through its light melodies and dance-like qualities. This composition serves as an engaging introduction to Mozart’s early style.

Following this, the orchestra will perform Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K.488, one of Mozart’s most cherished concertos. This work highlights the soloist’s virtuosity and fosters a rich interplay between the piano and orchestra. The concerto’s second movement, Adagio, is particularly renowned for its profound emotional depth.

The evening culminates with Symphony No. 39 in E-flat major, K.543, a majestic and powerful composition that exemplifies Mozart’s mastery of the classical symphonic form. This symphony is celebrated for its dramatic contrasts and intricate orchestration.

The concert will be conducted by Hilary Davan Wetton, the esteemed musical director of Alina Orchestra. The piano soloist for the evening is Antoine Préat, a rising talent supported by the City Music Foundation. Préat has been recognised as “one of the most gifted pianists of the young generation” and brings a fresh interpretation to Mozart’s concerto.
