Cole Stacey: Postcards From Lost Places (at The Stables Theatre)

Cole Stacey: Postcards From Lost Places at The Stables Theatre is scheduled for Friday, 7 February 2025, at 8:45 pm. This performance marks the live debut of Stacey’s forthcoming album, Postcards From Lost Places, offering audiences an intimate experience of his evocative songwriting and musical versatility.

Cole Stacey is a visceral and lyrical songwriter, singer, and musician whose work traverses British folk, 80s pop, spoken word, and ambient electronics. His career includes performances at esteemed venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, The Westfalenhalle Arena, and the Glastonbury Festival. As one half of the alt-folk duo India Electric Company, Stacey has been featured in live sessions on BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music, with BBC Radio 1 describing them as “a full musical odyssey.”

Since 2015, Stacey has collaborated with pop icon Midge Ure, contributing on mandolin, bass guitar, analogue synthesizers, and vocals across sold-out tours in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Scandinavia, and Germany. These tours included performances alongside The Human League at Hammersmith Apollo and headlining concerts at venues like The Royal Albert Hall.

Postcards From Lost Places is Stacey’s extraordinarily honest debut album, set for release in early 2025. The album explores themes of regeneration while being rooted in tradition, featuring a symbiosis of ‘lost’ places and forgotten words, some dating back to the 13th century. Stacey’s distinctive lyrical songwriting is complemented by unique field recordings, with collaborations including traditional Lithuanian Kanklės virtuoso Emilija Karaliute, BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Nominee Jack Cookson, and electronic producer and composer Guy Andrews.

Each track, or ‘postcard’, was imaginatively recorded on location in spaces that, though easily overlooked, continue to endure. Stacey will perform the album live in full for the first time during this handpicked UK tour, with each venue selected for its resonance with lost and regenerated places and personal connection to him.

The Stables Theatre, located at Stockwell Lane, Wavendon, Milton Keynes, MK17 8LU, is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and intimate atmosphere, making it an ideal setting to experience Stacey’s nuanced performance.
