MK Gallery: Taking The Stage – Day 1 Performances
The acclaimed Taking The Stage festival returns for its third year, celebrating and supporting women playwrights. This exciting day of performances will feature new plays, discussions, and talks, bringing powerful stories and conversations to the stage.
The evening begins at 7:00 PM with a keynote speech from award-winning playwright Winsome Pinnock, setting the tone for an inspiring night of theatre.
At 7:30 PM, watch In a Key of Her Own by Suzette Coon, a play that explores the struggles of women composers across time—from Fanny Mendelssohn in 1846 to a modern-day A-Level music student fighting to have female composers recognized.
At 8:30 PM, Fifty Cups of Tea by Rosemary Hill takes the stage. Set in 1938, it tells the powerful story of women uniting in protest against war, led by the inspiring Princess Indira of Kapurthala.
The evening closes with a Q&A session at 9:00 PM, featuring a panel of industry professionals discussing the future of women in theatre.
