On Sunday, 23 March 2025, at 8:00 pm, The Stables in Milton Keynes will present Fire & Dust – The Woody Guthrie Story, performed by the Reg Meuross Quartet. Commissioned and produced by Pete Townshend, this performance showcases Reg Meuross’s exceptional songwriting talent, blending original compositions with powerful storytelling. The show delves into Guthrie’s unwavering fight against racism, inequality, and injustice, drawing parallels between his activism and today’s social issues. Townshend has praised the project, highlighting how Meuross’s songs bring Guthrie’s life story to audiences with respect, truth, and authenticity.

Accompanying Meuross are three highly acclaimed musicians who form The Strike, a name symbolizing the collective strength of social movements—a key theme in Guthrie’s work. The ensemble includes:

• Phil Beer – A renowned multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with The Albion Band and Show of Hands.
• Geraint Watkins – A Welsh pianist and accordionist who has played alongside legends like Van Morrison, Nick Lowe, and Paul McCartney.
• Marion Fleetwood – A talented string player associated with TRADarrr, IOTA, and The Sandy Denny Project.
