VE Day 80: Beacon Lighting at Milton Keynes Museum

On Thursday 8 May 2025, Milton Keynes Museum is inviting everyone to remember Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) 80 years on. It is now 80 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe, and a day of hope and peace for millions.


Moment Highlights

During VE Day 80, guests can expect the following additional highlights:

Beacon Lighting

🔥 At 9:30 pm, a beacon will be lit to celebrate this moment, which is part of a national beam of light—a beacon representing the light of peace that followed the dark days of war. There will be a nationwide lighting of beacons, and this will happen at the same time as the rest of the country, to share the significance of being part of that moment.

Live Entertainment

🎶 Live entertainment on the bandstand, to recreate the entertainment spirit of the daymusic, entertainment, and celebrations of this historic evening.

Cadet Marches

🎖 Marching displays from local cadets, honouring all those who served and sacrificed during the war.

Food & Drink Stalls

🍴 Refreshments & treats for guests to sample, so visitors can savour the moment and enjoy traditionally priced and nostalgic menus.
