The Wolverton Gilbert & Sullivan Society invites audiences to join them for a spectacular golden anniversary celebration concert. This special event will showcase the best of the society’s musical journey over the past 50 years, offering a vibrant selection of beloved tunes from Gilbert & Sullivan’s classics and a variety of other timeless musical pieces. It will be a true feast of entertainment, taking audiences on a nostalgic journey through their memorable productions.
The event will take place on Thursday, 7th November 2024, and Friday, 8th November 2024, both at 7:30 PM, at Stantonbury Theatre in Milton Keynes. Tickets are available online or through the Stantonbury Theatre Box Office, and purchasing a ticket not only guarantees a great evening of entertainment but also supports the continuation of live musical theatre in Milton Keynes.
Attendees will experience some of the society’s most iconic performances, including songs from Pirates of Penzance, Yeomen of the Guard, and other Gilbert & Sullivan favorites. There will also be a chance to enjoy the melodies from Calamity Jane, a show originally scheduled for 2020 but postponed due to theatre closures. The evening will transport the audience through different eras and emotions, featuring the mystery of Jack the Ripper, the delightful frivolity of Salad Days, and many more cherished moments.
Famous songs such as “A Policeman’s Lot is Not a Happy One,” “Keep the Home Fires Burning” by Ivor Novello, “Amid the Falling Snow” by Enya, and Cole Porter’s “I Love Paris” will fill the venue with instantly recognizable tunes. Audiences will also get a delightful sneak peek at the society’s upcoming major production, Patience, which is set to take the stage next spring.
This event is more than just a concert; it is a celebration of half a century of music, dedication, and the enduring spirit of Wolverton Gilbert & Sullivan Society. The society remains one of the few groups in the area that still performs with a live orchestra, helping to keep the spirit of musical theatre, and especially Gilbert & Sullivan, alive and vibrant. Ticket sales will support this tradition and help sustain the magic of live performance.
The Wolverton Gilbert & Sullivan Society looks forward to welcoming audiences as they celebrate fifty years of music, joy, and community spirit. Join them for an unforgettable evening, relive some of the most magical moments of their past productions, and be part of their bright future.
