A fun, fabulous night with Dolly!
Last night (19/11), I had the pleasure of attending ‘Here You Come Again: The New Dolly Parton Musical’ at Milton Keynes Theatre, and it was an absolute joy from start to finish! This musical is a celebration of music, storytelling, and packed with power and heart.
As soon as I walked into the theatre, I was wowed by the set. The stage features a vibrant, colourful aesthetic that captures the glitz and glamour of Dolly Parton’s iconic style, with sparkling elements and bold backdrops. The stage is transformed into an attic, creating an immersive atmosphere that reflects both the heart and energy of Dolly’s music and persona. I was really impressed with how many props were on the stage!

From the moment the curtain went up, the audience are swept away by the infectious enthusiasm of the cast. The performances were exceptional. Tricia Paoluccio from Modesto, California stars as Dolly Parton. I thought she was fabulous! She brought the icons humour and wisdom to life, and her voice is stunning! Exceptional performance!
Alongside Dolly, Steven Webb stars as Kevin, a struggling comedian going through a personal crisis during the isolation of the pandemic. He captures the character’s journey with charm, humour, and depth. His ability to balance comedic timing with moving moments of self-reflection adds a significant emotional weight to the show.
Dolly and Kevin’s onstage chemistry form the heart of the show, ensuring audiences remain engaged and moved. Additional support comes from talented understudies and musicians who enrich the lively and heartfelt show.

What stood out the most to me was how the musical managed to balance feel-good moments with emotional depth. The storyline was engaging, with moments of true sentimentality that really resonated. There is a perfect blend of catchy tunes and touching ballads that kept the audience hooked throughout the evening.
