Review: Pretty Woman The Musical at Milton Keynes Theatre
REVIEW - Pretty Woman The Musical

SPECTACULAR… A romantic fairytale that will bring you joy!

Pretty Woman the Musical has taken the stage by storm, captivating audiences with its heartwarming story, catchy music, and dynamic performances. Based on the beloved romantic comedy, Pretty Woman brings the iconic characters of Vivian (played by the outstanding Amber Davies) and Edward (played by the extremely talented Oliver Savile) to life in a whole new way. As a huge fan of the film, I was excited to see how this classic story would translate onto the stage, and I was not disappointed. This is a show I could watch again and again! I absolutely loved it!

The cast of Pretty Woman the Musical is truly exceptional, with standout performances from both the leads and the supporting actors. Amber Davies, brings a perfect blend of sass and vulnerability to the character. Her powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence make her a joy to watch. As for Oliver Savile, he brings a new depth to the character, showcasing his comic timing and impressive vocals! The singing throughout the show was pitch perfect!

But it’s not just the main characters that steal the show. The supporting cast, including Natile Paris as Vivian’s best friend Kit, who has an unbelievable voice, she was one of my favourite characters and her stage presence was infectious to watch! Another standout character for me was Ore Oduba, he played a few parts throughout the show, including the hotel manager Mr. Thompson. He added another layer of humour to the show, his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ moves made the audience cheer, and his voice was spectacular! The ensemble also deserves recognition for their energetic and flawless dance numbers, adding to the overall spectacle of the show. The choreography, created by Jerry Mitchell, is a highlight of the show, with high-energy dance numbers that perfectly capture the spirit of the film.

The set design and costumes are also worth mentioning, as they transport the audience into the glitz and glamour of 1990s Hollywood. The iconic scenes from the film, such as the shopping spree on Rodeo Drive, are recreated with stunning attention to detail.

One of the most impressive aspects of Pretty Woman is the way it stays true to the heart of the film while still adding its own unique twists and turns. The show manages to capture the essence of the film’s charm and humour while also bringing a fresh take to the story. All the classic quotes and scenes are in the show, special mention for the evening at the opera scene, it was remarkable! The music, written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, perfectly complements the story and adds an extra layer of emotion to the already heartwarming moments.

Pretty Woman the Musical is a delightful and feel-good show that will leave you with a smile on your face. It’s a perfect blend of romance, comedy, and humour, with a talented cast that brings the story to life in a whole new way. Whether you’re a fan of the film or not, this musical is a must-see for anyone looking for a fun and uplifting experience at the theatre! To miss it would be a big mistake! HUGE!
